Andy Eggers joined the firm in 1995, following a 14-year newspaper career. Andy oversees several Guthrie/Mayes account teams, plus serves as the day-to-day manager of the national Toyota account.
In addition, Andy coordinates the firm’s Media Training division, which provides workshops for a variety of clientele on a local, regional and national basis.
Also, Andy serves the firm in the area of crisis communications on behalf of clients.
Prior to joining Guthrie/Mayes, Andy served nine years as managing editor of Business First newspaper in Louisville. Prior to that, he worked as a writer and editor for The Pensacola-Journal, a 70,000 circulation Gannett daily.
While at Business First — part of the national American City Business Journal chain — Andy was in charge of the day-to-day operation of the newsroom. His duties included editing and layout of the newspaper, plus the assignment of stories. In addition, he worked closely with reporters on writing, fact-finding and interview techniques. Andy also wrote for, and served on, the paper’s editorial board.
During his tenure, Andy earned the chain’s American Eagle Award, the top honor for editing work. In addition, he was honored in a chain-wide competition for his investigative reporting of a failed Kentucky insurance company.
Andy has also been honored for his column writing, winning a first-place award from the Kentucky Press Association.
Andy earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Louisville. He is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators as well as the Public Relations Society of America. Andy is also a 2001 graduate of Leadership Kentucky.
