Dan Ison

A Louisville native, Dan Ison brings to Guthrie/Mayes’ clients three decades of experience and considerable community relations and public affairs communications expertise. He joined Guthrie/Mayes Public Relations in October 1998, following his retirement from Philip Morris U.S.A. where he was director of community relations. In that capacity, Ison was responsible for community relations and external communications for Philip Morris U.S.A.’s three manufacturing plants in Louisville, Richmond, Va., and Cabarrus County, N.C.
Previously, Dan served as regional director, government and community relations for Philip Morris in Louisville. Since joining Philip Morris in 1970, Dan held a number of management posts both in Richmond and in Louisville.
Dan has long been prominent in civic, community and professional circles and is an acknowledged community leader. He currently serves as a board member for Greater Louisville Inc., Bellarmine University Board of Overseers, Governor’s School for the Arts, Kentucky Center for the Arts Foundation, Operation Brightside and the Jefferson Club. He also served on the board of the Kentucky Derby Festival for many years. Dan is also a member of the Agribusiness Industry Network.
He attended Bellarmine University and Virginia Commonwealth University.
