Media Training

On-site & Virtual

Pro athletes, Toyota auto manufacturing-plant presidents, world-renown design engineers, health care CEOs, university presidents, and start-up entrepreneurs are among the thousands of individuals to improve their media interview and public speaking skills through GMPR. Clients range from global and U.S.-based companies to national/local nonprofits.

Our team of former journalists work with clients on not only media interviews, but also detailed interpersonal and public-speaking communications skills. For media training, we focus on handling the tough questions, developing key messages, the importance of strong body language and controlling the situation – whether it’s a media interview, an address to your board or a public meeting.

Here’s the skinny on our training:

1.   We focus on "controlling" the interview, whether it is print, TV, radio, or social/digital. We address various techniques on how to attain this; however, a major component is “having clear-cut messages" going into the interview. We focus on "concept of message" and “message development."

2.   With all media training participants, we conduct mock TV and print-style/digital interviews.  We record the interviews and critique them. It’s an "interactive" session, as the participants are engaged in discussion with the trainers throughout the session. A workbook is provided - best used as a "refresher” for participants as future interviews arise.

3.  While we call this media training, it also serves as a broader "communications training" session, as it encompasses various forms of communication, whether it's media, conducting a meeting with associates, an impromptu presentation/speech, or one-on-one interactions with your organization’s key stakeholders.

4.  We provide training participants the tools (and mindset) that enable them to be proactive with messages/information in the interview situation. Media interviews — social/digital, print or via broadcast — remain one of most effective means through which you can convey your message to thousands, in some cases millions, of people/consumers.
